- Possible side effects of suggestion: People enjoying survival once again
- Screenshot/Video showing suggestion: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) no
TGMDom's thread on this issue was denied by Jesse. He suggested trying again, but a bit more formally. So, here's my version of the suggestion to revive survival.
- First of all, and probably the most obvious problem is that barely anyone plays survival anymore. I haven't seen any more then 20 players on survival for quite a long time. This is already proof that something needs to be changed.
- There are quite a few reasons as to why I think so few players are staying on survival. One of these reasons is the diamond mountains. Anyone who has played survival has most likely heard of them. They are giant mountains packed with diamond ore (and sometimes emeralds too). Because of the diamond mountains, players can easily get rich in only a few hours. Not to mention that the mountains are very easy to find, especially with the world border. Many players, me included, have stacks of diamond and emerald blocks just sitting around. Survival does not have a shop (I'm glad, as I would not want a shop in survival) so players have to trade with one another to get some of the items they want. The diamond mountains completely ruin the trading economy and causing 2 of the would be rarest items to be completely worthless.
- Silktouch spawners also have to be removed. The reason for this is somewhat the same as the diamond mountains. Players can easily x-ray spawners and get tons of them very quickly. Also, if you place a skeleton spawner in the nether, it's an unlimited source of wither skulls (which also means an unlimited source of beacons). Some people have so many spawners that they can get 20 skulls in a couple of minutes. This, as you could probably guess, also ruins the trading economy, making beacons and skulls (also very rare items) worthless. It also takes the fun out of wither boss fights, which used to be quite fun and uncommon.
- Another thing that needs to be removed is PvP protection in claimed land. As any survival player could tell you, almost no one PvPs at spawn. Player's bases are really the only places people could fight at, and now even that rarely happens. PvP protection basically turns bases into spawns outside of spawn. There is no challenge to build a well protected base or to fight off players anymore. Mobs are pretty much the only way to die on survival, and they where never very much of a challenge. Fighting, raiding, and building a safe base where the funnest parts of survival to me (and many other survival players), and now not a single one of those things happens. Whenever I discuss this, the only response I ever get is "go play factions". No, the reason many used to play survival was because of how close to vanilla minecraft it was. Being raided, raiding, and PvPing was just part of the fun. After all, it's called SURVIVAL for a reason. This includes surviving players.
- Custom world generation also has to go. Many players enjoyed survival because of the vanilla feel to it. The new world generation looks pretty, but it honestly isn't as fun to play on. Some biomes are also missing, for example, dark oak wood is nowhere to be found on the current survival map. Although the custom world generation looks nice, it just gets ruined because of the world border. Players only have a small portion of the world to explore. As a result, this portion gets ruined and broken. At this point, there are no perks to the custom generation
- Remove the world border. I've talked about the reason a bit in the previous suggestions, but here's some more reasons why: I enjoyed walking far out of spawn (sometimes 60k blocks or father) to find the perfect spot to build my home and to see things that no one had ever explored before. Exploring the world was a very interesting part of survival. With the world border, you are pretty much forced to build your base underground, unless you want a ton of people walking around while you build. It was a fun challenge to find a spot where your base would be safe. It was even fun fighting off raiders when it was eventually found.
- This suggestion is optional, although it would be greatly appreciated. Survival has had the same spawn for quite a while, and honestly I don't like the current one at all. The current spawn does not encourage PvP at all. The safe zone for the PvP area is only about 6 blocks wide. I just think it's about time for a change.
- My final suggestion is to completely reset survival. As I've said before, players have stacks of diamond/emerald blocks sitting in their enderchests. The economy has gone to **** and almost no one plays anymore. A reset would give survival a fresh start and clean up the mess that the previous update created.
