Glitch?

I was half way through the dungeon phase when i discovered that they added a one block for the nether. Went there for a bit and did some mining but when i came back to the main ob it reset me to the plains phase? Can someone please explain what happened and how I can get back to the dungeon phase? Took me a long time to get there!
