All/rules

Description of suggestion
Make a rule that lying to get others in trouble should be a punishment. Me getting in trouble for ''hacking into someones enderchest''. For some staff who supposedly ''abused'' and 'tped someone into pvp'' to get him/her in trouble.

Possible side effects of suggestion
Less liars, no other side effects

people can believe something that might not be true, if they are wrong and it is not their fault but they do get punished, it would ruin the server. There is a reason that this rule doesn't excist here.

Thats dumb, mistaking and lying are two different things. Lying that i hacked into someones enderchest when what acctually happened was me killing them in pvp is something different. I almost got in trouble for it. Because someone did take the risk of losing their stuff in pvp and asking to fight me. And I never said that i want people to get punished when they make a mistake, ofcourse mistakes can be made. But you can't see lying as mistaking. And them believing in their own lies and living in a whole different world is not my fault. And me getting punished because a staff member belives someone else more than me is wrong.

+1

If you lie in an attempt to get someone else in trouble, and there is undeniable proof that you were in fact lying then you should receive the punishment the other player would have received if the report were true.

Players can get confused sometimes with what happened but if it is quite obviously a lie, then the player who reported originally should receive the punishment that the other player would have received.

Some staff members may find it hard to tell whether someone is lying about a situation or not.

It should be thoroughly looked into before making such a decision, We should be treating all players in a Fair way but understandably I know this doesn't happen sometimes. If so many are agreeing on this, what kind of punishment would you expect?

They get the punishment reflected back onto them. If they report someone to try and get them perm banned then they should receive a perm ban.

The only issue I really see is that there could be some false bans if this was implemented into the rules.

From people trying to get others in trouble when they may have also done something wrong and if a staff member is very biased about a situation I guess.

I mean we have something similar to this with IP/Ban luring and advertisement so it could be implemented.

What? If a player has quite obviously lied in an attempt to get another player in trouble then they should be punished. I don't understand what you mean.

Its impossible to prevent players from lying, its no use
Yes there is. This new rule will prevent it. If they get caught then they get a punishment.

Same as preventing racism, homophobia, hacking etc. If a player breaks that rule then they'll be punished therefore people do not break the rules, which in turn prevents the aforementioned rules.

This will be the same with this new rule implemented. It will prevent lying because if they lie, they get punished.

But how would staff members know which player is lying and telling the truth?

+1/-1. It's a bit vague. If evidence is faked, and the person faking it is caught, they should be banned. Obviously you shouldn't be banned for saying "i'm hacking" if you're lying, but lying to get a staff member in trouble (in which the staff member gets in trouble), and it's found out to be a lie, the player who reported should also be punished.

Hence the undeniable proof part.

Common sense should be used. Now thinking back on it, maybe only staff members with common sense should be allowed to punish for this?

The punishment the other person would recieve. Like in my example i would've been perm banned for hacked client, Toqsted would probably be demoted if he did not record it.
