only want it for the pvp! Survival has more aspects than pvp, although it is an important part, and should be treated as such! (Frickin character limit)

And, if people playing on 1.8 are playing for the Survival features of 1.8, and has nothing to do with pvp at all, that's an entire downgrade, and shouldn't be suited for our Survival on the server.

1.10 survival has the 1.8 features in it, so I don't see why the compatibility would matter. What does that mean for elytra? Are they gone? What about magma blocks? Bone blocks? Purpur blocks?

On 1.8 you have same combat mechanics as 1.10
