I explored it a bit, and I believe unlocking content through purchasable points is not allowed under the Mojang license agreement, so there could be legal issues. However, the general idea of connecting maps and making them progressively unlockable to create a more engaging gameplay experience...

And U could use ur point and shard system to instant unlock maps if theres maps a player dont get finished but want to skip it. Then Just use points or shards. This would grow more ur Point System what dont infect a pay to win system but also give a bit money by the way

the cap of world edit ist 500.000 Blocks sometimes the cap dont work and world edit crash the game dont change these gaps but maybe update the mod or something :)
