Hello,

As many of you may know, I currently hold the best wwarp in the Skyblock server. This is not bragging rights, nor me showing off, this is stating a fact.
I did not get this way easily, and it required a lot of time, effort, in-game and real life money.
I also could not have done this without the help of my friends, such as Starlethe, Dark, Emskibemski18, Neptunesbread, _FoxKing21 & Ovnacija, for which I am extremely grateful, you guys have been pillars of the Skyblock community and I am so proud to call you guys friends.

In recent months, we have undergone many nerfs to our Islands, which we took at face value to start with.

However, the recent hopper nerf made it so hundreds of hours of work was basically for nothing, and I know that the Oneblock community feels this too. They have spent considerably more time than us on Skyblock building their islands, and have had changes happen to them without warning or explanation too.

These have ranged from a /shop bug when updating a plugin, the big sheep nerf, hoppers being made slower, minion changes that rendered them unusable for days and more. While I understand that many of the changes are made for the sake of TPS issues, lag, or helping Bedrock players access the server better, I feel like as the hoppers were being used instead of the Slimefun plugin which was primarily used for storage on the last Skyblock, the new iteration of Skyblock, should have been thought out better prior to the server re-opening that hoppers and chests would cause lag, and something put in place to combat this before people spent all of this time building up the economy, and their islands. Hoppers are not cheap, they are $10,000 each, and while the Skyblock community boomed quickly, and the economy grew, it should have been realized from the beginning just how many people would actively play Skyblock as opposed to the previous iteration at the end. However, you could see from the previous version before the reset there were thousands of pwarps, which meant that Skyblock was indeed very popular before it was reset, so it couldn't even be argued that it was unexpected popularity.

I am therefore staging a protest, I have lost many friends now to these changes, that have happened without warning and without explanation. I cannot stress this enough, that people are not as upset about the hoppers being changed, as the fact nobody is ever told this is going to happen until it's happened, and we have either a vague explanation in-game that you have to "be there" to see, or within a forum post as a reply that gets buried.

There are a few forum posts that have been made talking about this, and people are still upset about this issue. It is not going to be something that people are just going to "forget about" like I feel the server hopes.

I don't want to see my friends banned for sharing IPs of other servers, so they can continue to play together, nor do I want to see our community die because people are simply quitting skyblock.

My wwarp will be closed until further notice, and I am urging people to do the same. We are not asking for demands, we are not asking for anything except an explanation, and an opportunity in future to be able to contribute or make suggestions towards proposed changes, or at the very least some warning about changes happening.

To summarize, we are not asking for demands, this is very important. We are not asking for hoppers to be restored, we are simply asking for an explanation, and warning before changes happen in future, so that the community does not feel left in the dark, unwilling to progress further for fear their time will be wasted due to another "nerf". We would also appreciate something to acknowledge the changes that have happened, and an explanation as many people are unsure, and its been left to heresay.

Thank you for your time,
Sarahkipz

I agree with almost all of this, mainly the last part. The recent change in skills system on oneblock hit us like a brick, with Cloak mentioning it for the first time mere 15 minutes before the change. As a person that has dedicated hours of my time to grind my fighting and protection skills for pvp, i feel a bit betrayed. The change in itself isn't too bad, i like the competitiveness of everybody starting over, but at the same time a little heads up would've been nice. I don't think my time was downright wasted, but i do feel a bit sad that it couldn't happen a bit later, both for a chance for staff to see how the community would react to the changes, but also for us to be a bit more aware of what is going down around us. What i conclude from what is explained in the original message, is that Skyblock was hit hard by similar changes, way too soon. All we ask is for a bit of time to prepare for the changes, and perhaps a bit more democracy regarding whether to add it or not :) even if it improves performance.
Thanks to Sarah for addressing this issue.

What is there left to do on skyblock when all farms are nerfed so badly. Your only option left is to build and chat with friends online. If I want to build, I can also play creative...

Island levels have absolutely no purpose anymore after maxing everything in /is upgrades. new items are behind a paywall of crates.

When you have everything and get limited there is nothing left to do and that is why several skyblock players have now stopped playing while it was fun before.

I agree with Qu4ck_ I dont like my skills being gone or having to go through a hole new system with mmco on Oneblock. I think the old system was totally fine and shouldnt have been changed. As sarahkipz also mentionned, many people did not get any notice about this, neither did I (and remember I am staff).
In the future I do suggest to give players a notice and gather their opinions before ultimately just changing something.

Hello,

I would like to apologize for the lack of communication, I agree that I could have informed all of you much sooner about some of the changes that were made in the past few days.

Due to a bug with hopper limit detection being resolved recently, suddenly players (with too many hoppers) had their machines break AND we lowered the hoppers per chunk limit on Skyblock, hitting them extra hard. For that I am sorry.

We are currently working on a few solutions with our Minions that will aim to make hoppers almost obsolete. I hope to be able to roll it out soon (somewhere this month).

Regarding skills on Oneblock. I should have waited till at least the next auto reboot with swapping. But I personally just wanted to get it over with, the sooner, the better. The current iteration of skills we use on Oneblock is much more future-proof & performant than the old skills. I've added screens of the top 50 highest levelled players in the attachments.

Kind regards,
cloakfox

Hi,

I appreciate the response, I feel like the community would've reacted better had we known any of this was happening, or why it was happening, for instance when a problem occurs, it would be nice to just be alerted, so we aren't in the dark about what is going on, it also helps with the incitement of gossip. As players are without any real knowledge, they tend to just make up what they think it is with theories and then the rumor goes around and causes a lot of unnecessary drama.

It's become a bit of a thing recently, where someone will see you in a gamemode, like Oneblock or Skyblock and make jokes like "oooh, something is getting nerfed!" which although started as somewhat of a joke, turned pretty sour when people did witness "nerfs" and now people make up theories which has also incited a lot of the drama within the Skyblock community more specifically, I'm unsure of Oneblock because I don't play there often.

Like I said previously, I really wasn't looking for any "demands" and I do appreciate the apology, I am sure other players in the community also appreciate that. I hope that going forwards, information is shared with the community so we avoid problems in the future.

I agree that communication between Developers and players is very important. Some of my favorite live service videogames are also the ones with transparent developers that have great communication. I will never argue that point.

What I will argue is the sentiment that you have "The best" warp and that it's "a fact." To me, that sounds like bragging. To be bold enough to think that locking your warp is a potent form of protest is also egomaniacal. You locking your pwarp as a protest does nothing but show people you have an inflated sense of self-importance in the server.

Another thing I do not agree with is your concern with friends and players being banned due to sharing IPs in-game. That should always be discussed privately between people. Dont promote in the server because you are upset and want people to follow you elsewhere. That's the reason it's banable

The last thing I did not enjoy about your reasonable concerns for communication between developers and players is the timing of this post. I do not have massive storage units using the full 84 hopper limit. So when the nerf came around and I found out that people who did have those storage units could still use them, I felt that was not okay. Now I had a permanent debuff compared to long-time players who had everything in place. I heard no complaints from more established players. Now that you have to reduce the capacity of your storage, just like everyone else, we finally get a post complaining about that. This makes it feel like you are more upset that you cannot rest on your laurels anymore and have to work on your island again.

Those are my only sore spots with your post; other than that, I agree with you completely.

At the end of the day, this is still just Minecraft. Cheers

The timing of this post was in regards to some upset discord messages I received from regular Skyblock players, who without warning, rhyme nor reason to their knowledge had things completely stop. Autocrafters were turned off, their chunk limits reduced, people were being disconnected from the server, and I unfortunately as a former Helper, still receive messages in regards to this as I primarily play Skyblock. I always try to push people in the direction of actual staff as I am no longer, however some players do feel uncomfortable contacting staff, or writing on the public forums about things as they are worried about potential backlash.

I would like to state that in no way did I ask in this post about the hoppers being restored, nor did I ask for any demands of any sort, except the opportunity to communicate with the developers, and cloakfox in future about things that may happen. A changelog, a forum announcement, or even an @everyone in the Discord would be sufficient to stop the fuel of drama within the Skyblock community. This "may still be Minecraft" but many players have poured thousands of dollars into the server, as well as hundreds of their hours of time and I felt that they deserved to be represented, as many are too scared to counter what has happened, as I have said.

The act of my protest was to close down pwarps, which are an invaluable asset to new players and old players alike, yes, it sounded like bragging which is why I stated that I wasn't bragging, it was a fact. I have the most visits, and the most players come to my shop every day, I spend more money on the shop than I ever make, and I make sure that all of the essential items are way cheaper than they should be to give new players a chance to catch up, or progress further a little quicker. Skyblock is a gamemode that is slower paced, and some players do not enjoy that, so in an effort to make it more enjoyable for people, I made it a little easier to progress with my shop. If someone came along to make a better shop I would be all for it, as I could spend my time elsewhere, but until then, whether you enjoy my post or not, it still remains the best shop in Skyblock.

I'm not really too bothered about people coming at me for this post, but I feel like players without a voice deserved to be heard, and I am thankful to everyone who closed their pwarps in support of this protest, so that in future we could have better communication.

I would also like to state that my chest system has not worked since the hopper limit was introduced, we were told that our storages would still work, but they did not work - they were buggy and mostly unusable hence why many people have not been online at all which proves my point that many rumors occur on Skyblock that have no basis and are just fueling fire that is completely unnecessary.

Tbh I think this reply is just so rude for no reason. Sarah made her point very clearly.
And why blame us for something we didnt have no say in?
Sarah does have the best pwarp there is currently she has no need to brag cuz we all do it for her anyway, we are so proud of her for her shop, her xp grinder and her support for other players me included.
I go to her warp multiple times a day for her shop and xp grinder.
I agree fully with everything she stated in her post.
I just dont take kindly that you show no sence of respect, there was nothing in her post that would warant such a response that you made.
Have a nice day

I was not rude at all, and in fact, neither was Sarah in her response to my comments. I respected her time and attention in addressing my concerns with her post and left it at that.

Cheers
