Hello.

Today I want to discuss the community. Foxcraft has become such a censored server over the last year and it's completely terrible. The rules seem to suggest that the server is constructed of little children who have barely made it out of elementary school when, in reality, Foxcraft's demographic (from what I have seen) seems to be much older. Regardless of Fox's demographic, the point remains that the server chat shouldn't be as censored as it is.

Point one: Anti-swear
I think it's quite safe to say that the scale of who is for and against anti-swear is out-weighted in favor of those against. The anti-swear is inaccurate-it blocks out only certain swear words and it's it can be bypassed with one some simple modifications of the word. In addition to this, it is also ineffective in the respect that the anti-swear mutes many common phrases. For example 'an alt' (there are much more but I'm not going to list them all). Finally, why is anti-swear necessary. Swearing is not against the rules of respecting players (although it is in the rules of PG-13) (you could make the argument that swearing is 'Provocative communication'; however, I think it's hardly provocative; also the argument that it is 'Offensive remarks' is a terrible one also because swearings being offensive is determined by an individual, so to generalize it for everyone is quite irrational) and it does not hurt anyone in any way. It does not affect 'Sensible, well-thought-out speech' (which is what iBrady wrote in the rules as what is acceptable) because swearing, although it is seen as a usually harsh and crude, does not automatically make a statement crazed or hasty.
For those who might bring up the argument that swearing might discourage players from playing: while this may be true, that statement can be flip-flopped completely around and still have some validity. Also, players know what they're getting into when they are participating in an online game with a chat. There are also other options for them (like turning off chat or just ignoring it). Overall, it seem's quite idiotic to me that chat should be censored so that 10% of Foxcraft's demographic doesn't get scared.

Point two: 18+
First off I would like to state that I agree that some things should be warn-able for '18+'. But not everything. I find it quite funny how swearing is considered 'PG-13' when, as I have said, the majority of Foxcraft's demographic seems to be well over that age. I'm not saying that chat should be some pornhub video-to-text exclusive where everything and anything can be said, but regardless I believe, as does most players, that chat is guarded too strongly. Mild explicit language and content matters should be allowed.
People can get warned for saying pornhub. Are you serious? Why should we restrict people from talking about basic, un-graphic subject matters like this? Are we afraid that the mention of a porn website might make someone scared?
I remember talking about stuff like this with teachers in schools before in middle school around the age of 13, but not in Minecraft! No! No! No! We can't like these kids hear that there's sights with videos of naked people getting smashed.
But I don't want to stop there. Chat is still too restricted. Let people speak, and as long as it is not graphic nor disturbing let it pass.

Point three: Trash talk
Luckily, trash talk is not mutable (yet). However, the rules like to suggest that trash talk is not appreciated. Now, I do agree that trash talk is usually illogical and pointless, and a nice, logical, sensible conversation is great, but this is a game, not a college essay. Players are competitive and want to express that. Trash talk can be healthy and is very entertaining.
Trash talking has become more and more popular over the internet and I believe that the rules suppressing of it doesn't really help out the server- because technically trash talking is against the rules- but let's hope no one enforces it.

Post your opinions below.
